Nanoha and Fate’s “Friendship”: How it all began…

Okay I’m going to stop hardcore-fangirling for a while and get on with a serious post. I just hope I won’t start halfway through.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha or Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha is a well-known anime in the otaku world, and if you have no idea what that is I suggest you watch it now trust me you won’t regret it, unless you hate loli mahou shoujos. What’s more it’s different from other Mahou Shoujo themed animes, why you ask? Because they don’t say childish stuffs when transforming unlike some animes, but at the beginning Nanoha did say something. >.<

Since there are three seasons all in all, I’m going to tackle the very first season(or the Movie). Okay on with the topic~ (Warning may contain Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk.)

First Season (also known as the origin of the Movie, also since the Movie is the most latest I’m going to use its pictures and sticking with the storyline of the very first season and movie, then again they’re pretty much the same. >.<) centers on Takamachi Nanoha and Fate Testarossa, first episodes show how Nanoha became a Magical Girl after meeting err um a ferret, yea a ferret named Yuuno Scrya. Nanoha volunteered to help Yuuno retrieve a particular Lost Logia called Jewel Seeds. When Nanoha was about to capture another one, Fate Testarossa appeared before her claiming that she needs the Jewel Seeds and the two get into a fight, Nanoha lost and got hurt in the end.

More fated meetings came and Nanoha decided to befriend “the-girl-with-beautiful-but-lonely-eyes”. I can tell that Nanoha really wanted to “save” Fate, she disobeyed orders and went to Fate’s side when Fate tried activating 6(in the series)/7(in the movie) Jewel Seeds at once and without a doubt will get herself killed in the process.

Nanoha even shared to Fate half of her magical powers so that they can stop the Jewel Seeds. Fate was utterly surprised at this “girl-clad-in-white” ’cause of her actions. After sealing all of them Nanoha began her “befriending by words only”

You can see that she almost gave in but fate(no pun intended!) although it’s kind it’s also cruel, Precia Testarossa(Fate’s mother) made her move and took Fate away.

Later in the series, Arf(Fate’s familiar) got hurt after she confronted Precia and teleported herself to Earth. Nanoha’s friend, Alisa Bannings, found an injured Arf(in her dog form) and decided to take care of her. After hearing about the details from Alisa, Nanoha visited her friend’s house and found out the it was really Arf.

After telling everything about Fate and Precia, Arf asked Nanoha to save her mistress and Nanoha of course agreed for the sole reason of “I still haven’t got an answer from when I told her that I wanted to be her friend.” (Aww Nanoha you’re so sweet. *shot* Okay okay I know I’m starting right?) *clears throat* As I was saying, the people in Asura(Arthra) made “Capture Precia Testarossa” their priority, leading to Nanoha and Fate’s first and last serious battle.

Nanoha said that. (So true Nanoha, so true…)

The declaration. The fight started and during the fight, Fate was recollecting everything when her mother was still kind to her. But…

The named that her mother called her in the past was not Fate but “Alicia”, surprised at the sudden realization, her mind wandered off to her memories and still found out that she was called “Alicia” instead of “Fate”. Making her lose her concentration on the battle.

She quickly convinced herself that it doesn’t matter at all, gaining motivation at the reason of wanting to go back to her mother after the fight, she began her last attack “Phalanx” and binded Nanoha on the spot.

But this doesn’t scare Nanoha at all.

Fate’s Phalanx was activated and a “Spark End” came after.

Seriously, even I was scared when Fate’s attack was finished her determination to win and go back to her mother made her do something unbelievable. After her attacks Nanoha was surprisingly unharmed which to Fate’s anger.

Fate was about to attack Nanoha again but Nanoha casted a bind on her too unable to move she watched Nanoha as she activated Divine Buster followed by Starlight Breaker after Fate managed to defend herself from the first attack. And Nanoha’s way of befriending started.

Fate tried defending herself from Nanoha’s attack but failed, she fell into the sea and Nanoha saved her. When Fate woke up she flew away only to be attacked by Precia herself. After the attack she was taken into custody by the people in Asura and learned the truth about “Alicia” and herself from her mother. She was surprised at the truth and fainting in the process. Nanoha, Yuuno, Arf, and Chrono went to Precia to arrest her leaving Fate alone, Fate soon woke up and decided to help everyone. *cue Don’t Be Long insert song*(Sorry can’t help it. >.<) Saying that “Our Story hasn’t even begun”. Seriously those two, they always think alike.

Fate met up with Nanoha and began fighting beside her much to Nanoha’s delight. The part where they attacked at once is so cute. *shot* I’m starting! *clears throat* They cornered Precia soon after and the place began to crumble after knowing the reason why she’s collecting the Jewel Seeds. Precia fell into the void with Fate reaching out to her, Nanoha shows up telling Fate to grab her hand(in the series).

Seriously, I can’t believe that they took this scene out of the movie!!

After a few days, Nanoha received a call from Chrono telling her that Fate will leave soon and she was given a chance to talk to Nanoha before leaving. The two met up and talked with each other.

Fate asked Nanoha what can she do to become friends and Nanoha answered. “It’s easy, becoming someone’s friend is really simple. You say their name. At first, that’s all you need. Not “You” or “Hey there”. Not stuff like that. You look at the person right in the eye and you call that person by name.” Nanoha’s explanation is so beautiful as simple as that Fate can finally start a new life. (I so wish that some people realize that it’s that simple). And so, Fate began calling Nanoha’s name many times about 8(? infinite?) times(Sorry didn’t count, was too focused on the beautiful moment. >.<)

Warmth, Fate found it in Nanoha…

Wondering what Fate said before that? “So, I want you to call my name, too. If you’re ever in trouble. I’ll be there to help you this time.” Fate was really true to her word here, why you ask? Watch A’s(Second Season). 😀
Nanoha couldn’t help but cry harder. >.<

Ah~ I love this part~ The two stood there in silence, in each others’ arms. *wipes tears* err yea. >.<

And thus, the exchanging of ribbons. *gets tissues*

That ends the first season, after this scene in the movie “My Wish My Love” by Tamura Yukarin the ED(“Little Wish” by Tamura Yukarin in the series) began playing while the movie was showing some after-scenes. When My Wish My Love finished, “Phantom Minds” by Mizuki Nana-sama the OP(“Innocent Starter” by Mizuki Nana-sama in the series) came after. These two songs were right on for the movie and I can’t help but cry while listening to it, I just love the lyrics. >.<

The movie overall and the series of course was amazing, despite it having lolis as the main characters(except the third season). I suggest you all watch all of the seasons. 😀

I better end this post before I start ranting I mean saying something about how amazing these two songs are. >.<
